If you ever play in La Jolla shores and see a yellow Wilson volleyball ball with the slogan "Play with the love in your heart" on it, you know you have hit the "OG Vball crew". What started out as a bunch of "old gansta" friends from back in the day, playing social volleyball from UCSD to La Jolla shores, it is now a culture and norm that my friend Lito has continued the tradition till today (and on-going). Rain or shine, net or no net, people or no people, we play volleyball all seasons long. While the common might think that organizing weekly play dates is an easy task, I beg to differ. The mass email exodus, to collecting responses and emailing people back with confirmation, to last minute phone calls with change of plans, to the drama that the groups experiences ever so often (Joseph we miss you!), to the new faces that come and go (girls have the added advantage of joining even if they suck at playing volleyball -- Thanks Lito, we know you have priorities and we still love you!) -- its not just a vball game -- its a culture and the love for volleyball that brings a bunch of people together. What better way to connect with nature and friends? I post this blog in appreciation of all the organization that Lito does for the volleyball and group. I love you bastos! Thanks and many thanks!!!!
These are some of the pictures of my favorite people I love playing beach volleyball with. Pictures were taken recently so I don't have all my favorite people on picture ... yet!

Thanks for sharing such thoughtful words and pics! I was just telling someone today that I plan on playing til they put me in the ground.
Hope you're on the road to recovery quickly with your knee. I can almost feel that wet, cool winter sand from your pics.
No snow. That's gotta be nice.
Stupid Alaska.
Also.. isn't there a rule that requires you to post atleast one obligatory shot of random hot women if you are taking photos at La Jolla? Tsk Tsk.
Speaking of Alaska.. there's actually a big name concert that's coming up here for christmas. Ludachristmas show. Nothing screams christmas like Hip Hop.
Indeed.
AG: Thanks girl!
Trish: thanks for the well wishes. Rehab and hopefully I will be back in the courts before summer 2010! Hope you are doing well with the recovery
Bro: Time for you to move to the mainland. I got plenty of pics and chicks for you to pick and choose from. Luda in AK .. HAHA! Now that is some funny shit!
Well said Lavanya and I agree in crediting Lito a lot with carrying the torch in the group. His steadfast commitment to keep this group going often goes unrecognized although all of us deeply appreciate the work (as you so well put) that goes into organizing these events. There is a reason that I stay on the mailing list, even though we haven't been in SD for the last couple years. I actually enjoy seeing Lito's message every week as a reminder that people still take time every week to get away from the grind, relax on the beach, get back with old friends, meet new friends, and play some ball together on quality beaches that few people in the world have the advantage of living near. Plus, regardless of marriage, children, or the pushes and pulls of life, the people of Old Guard/Group/Gansta keep coming back to stay connected. Keep it up and we'll see you all again soon.
