The Yucatan

Its been my long standing dream to make it back to the area where the Mayan empire ruled. The first glimpse of Copan in Honduras was just the beginning of my obsession. I want to see as many Mayan ruins as I can. In particular, the quest to find unnoticed and less-tourist attracted ones seem to appeal to me more.

I kicked of the new year of 2014 by making the trip with a good friend to the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. We used Cancun as just a point of entry/exit into the country as we were more interested in the "off-the-beaten-path" experience of Mexico. Our first stop was Isla Mujeres where we rung the new years in the good ole Mexican style. Then a detoured stop to the colonial town of Valladolid where we saw Coba and Ek Balam and experienced the cenotes. And finally, the trip to Tulum before heading back to the USA.

True to my word, here are some unprocessed but low resolution pictures from the trip. I could write more, but I hope my pictures tell the story. Pictures taken from both the iPhone 5 and Canon 50D (24-70mm L Canon lens) are mixed and presented below for your enjoyment!
