I love wine. No really, I love wine. Seriously, I love wine.
Wine is such an acquired taste. For some, the first sip can be the gateway to wine heaven. Over the years, I have tasted wines from all over the world and it seems like there is no such thing as one good wine bottle. Don't get me wrong, I do have my favorites. Some years, a certain vintage just blows my palette while other years, I simple sail with the French and S. American wines. Whites are saved for a hot day while reds are enjoyed almost anytime. In short, I love wine. Did I mention, I love wine?
While
Napa Valley and
Sonoma counties produce a large number of California wines, I recently learned that Santa
Barbara has its own to hold up. One might remember that the
Pinor rave happened after the movie "
Sideways". Yep, that happened in Santa Barbara. Recently, I was up in that area and really fell in love with the scenery. Granted it is not as lush and green as
Napa, the atmosphere is quite
titilating. For one, you are not crowded by the tourist that one often observes in
Napa. Wine
pourers are there to actually help you taste wine (and not be a salesman). Pours are copious and people are friendly and educational. I was very
impressed with the whole trip and cant wait to go back there again. Two of my favorite winery spot were:
Melville and
Sanford. If not for the wines, the location and scenery was just spectacular.
So, did you hear that I love wine? Yes, I love wine.
