92103

92103 is the zip code for Hillcrest neighborhood in San Diego, CA. Today I made the trip to the Hillcrest Farmers Market. Apart from the pictures that I took at the farmers market, there were others that I snapped along the way. Its amazing when you see such diversity in one neighborhood, especially in the days of suburbia that seem to sprout up in every corners and crevice. People, billboards, restaurants, fashion statements, etc. Words cannot really explain the diversity I saw so I hope you can see what I mean through my pictures.

Back of Mr Slughorn

Apparently Mr. Slughorn really liked this "Hollywood" moment so he was back again, same time, to strut this stuff.
Homeboy decided to show up at my doorstep, two days in a row. I just could not not "stalk" the critter. This time, I got down on my knees and actually captured him at eye-level. A different perspective. I especially like the green background which adds another dimension to the picture. If only I had a tripod handy, I could have captured the depth!
This picture was taken using Canon Macro lens in Av mode.

Member: Molluscan Class Gastropoda

I have never been a big fan of critters that crawl. Feels like a slimy, slithering creature crawling up. This particular "land snail" was taking its own sweet time to walk across the stairways last morning and I could not help (the critter stalker) grab my macro lens to capture this leisure stroll. Most macro shots, I take it in Aperture mode (Av) but I need to learn to use other modes to take them (Shutter speed mode (Tv)). I set the ISO to low to ensure that I did not overexpose but judging from the above pictures, even a 200 ISO might have been too much. My experience with Shutter speed seem to indicate that I need a tripod to really capture the picture but I may be wrong. Maybe I just don't have a steady hand.
Word of the day: Anthropophilic - Species of snails that are more often found around human habitation.

8.8.09 - Part 2

The three "F's" of a wedding - Friends, Food, Fun. Pictures taken at Al's wedding

8.8.09 - Part 1

My friend Al and Lisa got married on 8.8.09. It was my first time, venturing into wedding photography and I soon learned that it was not an easy job. Capturing the moment it tough enough and then to deal with equipment and lighting. I particularly had difficulty taking clear shots during the night (use of no/limited flash and/or utilizing high ISO). Above are what I considered decent pictures worth sharing. Enjoy and Congratulations to the newly married couple!
