Upgrade or not?

Thanks to my dad, I got a new Canon point and shoot camera as a replace/upgrade to my old dying Canon SD IS 800. One would argue that the new Canon SD IS 1200 is better than the old, but don't be fooled just because the model numbers are larger than the previous versions. Canon is notorious to come up with so many cameras that they just keep adding more models numbers. The fact that the battery does not die is an upgrade from my old but looking at the features and it's capabilities, is it really an upgrade? Check out this compare list between the two point-and-shoot I own. What do you think? At the end of the day, since I own a new Canon 50D with 24-70mm L Canon lens, my need for a compact, portable point-and-shoot took higher precedence over a highly featured product. At the end, you still have a happy Canon customer! ;)

Here are some pictures I recently took in San Francisco with the new Canon SD IS 1200.

Play with the love in your heart

If you ever play in La Jolla shores and see a yellow Wilson volleyball ball with the slogan "Play with the love in your heart" on it, you know you have hit the "OG Vball crew". What started out as a bunch of "old gansta" friends from back in the day, playing social volleyball from UCSD to La Jolla shores, it is now a culture and norm that my friend Lito has continued the tradition till today (and on-going). Rain or shine, net or no net, people or no people, we play volleyball all seasons long. While the common might think that organizing weekly play dates is an easy task, I beg to differ. The mass email exodus, to collecting responses and emailing people back with confirmation, to last minute phone calls with change of plans, to the drama that the groups experiences ever so often (Joseph we miss you!), to the new faces that come and go (girls have the added advantage of joining even if they suck at playing volleyball -- Thanks Lito, we know you have priorities and we still love you!) -- its not just a vball game -- its a culture and the love for volleyball that brings a bunch of people together. What better way to connect with nature and friends? I post this blog in appreciation of all the organization that Lito does for the volleyball and group. I love you bastos! Thanks and many thanks!!!!

These are some of the pictures of my favorite people I love playing beach volleyball with. Pictures were taken recently so I don't have all my favorite people on picture ... yet!

Paradise

It's really true that a picture is as good as what the photographer shoots. True that a better equipment can bring out or mask things but at the end of the day, the picture speaks for itself. I happen to take these shots using my old Canon SD800 point and shoot camera which by the way is falling apart (old/new battery dies within 10 minutes of operation - the suspicion is that the power/reset function is corrupt). At the end of the day, the pictures still turned out fantastic. Pleasing to my eyes and that is what matters most. Enjoy these pictures from paradise.
